A drunk driver who killed a motorcyclist in BC on Canada Day 2011 has been ordered to spend more time in jail.
In December, Tracy Dawn Smith was sentenced to one day for impaired driving causing the death of Jana Mehenthiran.
Her car had crashed head-on into his vehicle on the Trans Canada Highway and she tried to blame the collision on the 47 year old victim.
Crown Counsel Mary Ainslie immediately appealed the sentence handed down by Provincial Court Judge Robert Higinbotham who also ordered Smith to seek treatment at a recovery centre in Surrey. The BC Court of Appeal has now increased Smith's jail term to two years less the one day she's already spent behind bars.
