With his voice trembling several times, the man blamed for the fatal sinking of a BC ferry in 2006, has resumed testifying at his trial in Vancouver.
Karl Lilgert says he was shocked when the Queen of the North ran aground during what he described as a routine trip in March of 2006.
He says he remembers chaos in the minutes it took to rescue everyone from the sinking ship and he was relieved when he was told everyone was safe.
It was later learned two passengers died. Lilgert says he eventually had to move away from Prince Rupert because he, 'Found it unbearable to watch ships come and go' and 'It was time to move.'
Lilgert is on trial for criminal negligence causing the deaths of Shirley Rosette and Gerald Foisy.
