It depends on where marketers feel their responsiblity lies.
That from a marketing professor on whether any responsibility lies with local advertisers when it comes to products made overseas.
This comes after hundreds were killed in the collapse of a garment building in Bangladesh on Wednesday.
Simon Fraser University's Dr. Steve Kates says the responsiblity of marketers depends on who they feel they have the greatest responsiblity to -- whether it's to shareholders, employees, or consumers, for instance.
"As far as I know there's no laws stating that marketers of clothing have to reveal that it was made in ethically approved conditions," says Kates.
Some of the items being made in the Bangladesh factory were manufactured for Canadian company, "Joe Fresh".
