A student teacher who sexually assaulted a high school student in surrey three years ago has been sentenced to more than two years behind bars.
Michael Herrera had been working on his practicum in the Surrey School District in 2010.
He was 24 years old.
The RCMP said they received a complaint from a female student, and accused him of having an inappropriate relationship with her.
Herrera was later charged with several offences.
He pleaded guilty to one count of sex assault in October 2012.
Now, a B.C. Supreme Court judge in New Westminster has sentenced him to 26 months in prison.
