If you want to learn more about caring for someone with mental illness, there's a conference today at Vancouver General Hospital.
The day-long event features two keynote speakers.
One is Natasha Tracy, a 34-year-old blogger from Victoria.
She plans to talk about her experience with bi-polar disorder.
She also wants to hear from the other speaker, a UBC psychologist who plans to talk about the symptons and treatment of psychosis.
Tracy says it's important to better understand this disorder because it can be very scary.
"Psychosis is the presence of hallucinations and delusions. Typically people associate this with violence. But nothing could be further from the truth. Most people who are suffering from psychosis are really mostly a danger only to themselves." She says the event is a great opportunity for families affected by mental illness to share their stories of struggle, hope, recovery.
