While police investigate the cause of a crash that killed two children and three adults yesterday in surrey, the city's mayor is offering her condolences.
"A very tragic accident. Our heart and thoughts go out to the families for sure."
Dianne Watts says it will take time to determine if changes can be made to improve the safety of the intersection at 32 Avenue and 176 Street.
“(Police) still have to go through the whole reconstruction of the scene first and really identify what went wrong. There’s a lot of information out there right now, but I think until we get the official report, it's a bit premature to begin to implement anything."
Police have already confirmed the driver of a minivan sped through a red light hitting the victims' car with such force, it was torn in half.
No names have been released, but it's believed all the victims were of one family.
