BC's Criminal Justice Branch is appealing the one year jail sentence handed to lawyer William Mastop.
The 46 year old from Vernon was handed jail time after pleading guilty to participating in, or contributing to, the activity of a criminal organization.
A tentative hearing date for the appeal comes up in mid-July.
When one year sentence was handed down, the crown was not happy.
Crown lawyers had been seeking up to three years in prison.
Mastop gave his gangster clients information leading directly to two murders.
