Members of a citizens group are planning to be at a BC NDP rally Saturday morning, asking the party to clarify its position on a proposal for a coal port at Fraser Surrey Docks.
Kevin Washbrook is the director of "Voters Taking Action on Climate Change".
"And then when we saw the NDP's stand on Kinder Morgan, you can look at the NDP's ads and if you replace oil with American coal, and Kinder Morgan with Fraser Surrey Docks, it's the exact same argument. You know, why should our thriving port become a major exporter of dirty US coal, it makes no sense," Washbrook says.
Washbrook wants the NDP to support the idea of full public hearings on the proposal before a decision is made.
If the project is approved, coal would be taken down the Fraser River to Texada Island.
From there, it would go to Asia.
