The weather is hampering the search for the missing man in Golden Ears Provincial Park today.
The RCMP is on scene assessing what they can do in hopes of locating the young man swept away in Gold Creek Falls on Friday.
RCMP Inspector Davis Wendell says because of the pouring rain and fast moving water, the Search and Rescue Team will not be deployed today.
"The first priority in any rescue or recovery operation is always the safety of the first responders and that will be the first thing that will be considered here. We cannot put volunteers in jeopardy in any type of search."
At this time, Wendell is unsure when they will resume a full search.
Friends have identified the missing man as 21-year-old James Zhou, a youth leader at a church in Surrey.
