Vancouver City councillors have now designated a local hotel slated for demolition a heritage site.
The privately-owned Waldorf on East Hastings has been home to a popular watering hole more than 60 years.
In January, council voted in favour of a 120-day moratorium, halting plans by the owners to sell the property to real estate developers.
The deal is expected to be finalized in September.
The new owners have indicated the heritage designation will not be a problem for them.
