The BC Teachers Federation is worried a new Liberal majority government might choose to impose a ten year education deal on teachers.

Getting a 10 year deal with teachers is a priority for the Liberal government, and out-going BCTF President Susan Lambert says that is concerning.

"It is always something that is worrisome. I don't what mandate BCPSEA will be given. I don't know what mandate BCPSEA will accept.  Trustees are part of the equation in this regard and Trustees have been suffering and that also has to play into the equation and who knows how it will all turn out in the end."

Talks between the teachers union and the employers group were suspended for the election but will resume next week.

the goal is to reach a deal by June.

Lambert says she also hopes part of the Liberals mandate will be to address some of the funding concerns in the education system.
