Vancouver's Mayor says anarchists who are claiming responsibility for a house fire will be hunted down by the city's police force.
Gregor Robertson says it's an active investigation but, so far, there are no suspects. Robertson is careful not to link the arson to anti-gentrification protests at the Pidgin Restaurant in the Downtown Eastside.
"When you say it's escalating, it depends on who's involved. At this point, it's an active investigation. We don't know who is behind this. There has been investigation and now an arrest related to the Pidgin protest. The VPD are watching this very carefully right now. Certainly, I'm very concerned as mayor."
The Wednesday morning fire destroyed a duplex under construction on East First Avenue near Victoria Drive.
Those responsilbe left behind a spray painted threat: "we'll be back."
