The RCMP in Agassiz is asking for the public's help in locating a thief who knocked a woman out of her wheelchair and dragged her on the ground by her purse on Friday afternoon.
Corporal Dwayne Farlin says the attack happened on Morrow Road east of Highway 9 in Agassiz.
"The female in her wheelchair was grabbed from behind and pulled to the ground after the strap on her purse did not break and the person did keep running."
Corporal Farlin says the woman sustained a head injury and suffered a seizure while laying on the pavement calling out for help.
He says the victim stopped a passerby, but the person did not help.
The woman managed to climb back into her wheelchair and get home, where she called 911.
Farlin says he spoke with the victim this morning and she is very upset and in pain.
He says there were cars driving by and pedestrians in the area, so he hopes a witness will contact them with information.
Meanwhile, the victim's husband Kent Gundrum is hoping the person who stole from his wife will return some medications se desperately needs.
"I wish he would have his conscience would get the better of him and understand that she doesn't have a very good life as it is. If he would please return the medication, drop it off to an RCMP station or even to the public pharmacy, hand it in, don't have to say anything, just put in a bag, hand it to the lady at the counter."
Police have said the suspect is described as having a long, blonde ponytail, and was wearing blue jeans.
