More than 8000 people are lacing up their shoes at Stanley Park to help end global poverty.
The 29th annual World Partnership Walk is happening all across Canada today.
Shakeel Bharmal, the director of operations, says rural communities in Asia and Africa need early childhood education and better health care.
"One of the things that's very important to us at World Partnership is engagement for everyday Canadian so it doesn't matter how much or how little you give. The point that we want to focus on is allowing Canadians to have a vehicle to demonstrate that they care about the world and about those that are less fortunate than ourselves."
Bharmal says last year Canadians raised more than 7 million dollars, 2 million of that was raised in vancouver.
He adds all of the funds go towards the initiative.
