It looks like the union representing outside workers for the City of Vancouver, lifeguards, and PNE staff has had its executive sent packing. A letter on CUPE 10-04's website says the national union has relieved all members of the executive of their duties. Members of CUPE 10-04 either wouldn't return calls or refused comment on the issue.
Internal emails obtained by CKNW point to a fight within the union involving President Mike Jackson. Some within the union are upset about Jackson's lack of attendance at meetings and there are also suggestions of some kind of unexplained payments.
In an email addressed to national rep Meena Brisard, Chief Steward Alex Bruce asks an election be triggered to replace Jackson.
Jackson himself sent an email to try and calm the waters while hinting someone is out to get him.
The union represents some 2,000 workers.
