Official word won't come until Wednesday but the BC Liberals can breathe a sigh of relief in Surrey-Fleetwood as it looks like it will go down as a win.
The lead for Liberal candidate Peter Fassbender had narrowed to as little as 166 over the NDP's Jagrup Brar as Elections BC does recounts. But Fassbender says he can now officially celebrate a win with a margin of 200 votes, "Elections BC will actually make the final declaration but my scrutineer who was there, I have been congratulated by my opponent in the riding so that says to me that I have won."
As absentee ballots get factored in, Elections BC is still counting in 23 other ridings, including several with a gap of less than 100 votes.
