BC's senior cabinet minister seems to be closing the door on the Northern Gateway pipeline being forced through British Columbia.
James Moore says Ottawa agrees with Premier Christy Clark's five conditions, but, while he admits the project can't go forward without public support, he's not saying it's dead.
"This is the provincial government responding to Enbridge's request. We will see what Enbridge's response is going forward, but there are many pathways for Canadian resources to get out of the country and we will see if Enbridge looks at other opportunities."
Moore was asked point black if the feds would ever just push the pipeline through anyway.
"We believe in waiting for the environmental assessment to come back and letting science drive this. As I said, the conditions the Premier has put forward, we agree with. These projects can't go forward without the public's support, and the public's support will never be behind these projects unless companies can demonstrate that they're being good stewards of the natural environment."
Despite BC's rejection of the current Enbridge proposal, Moore says the environmental assessment must still be completed.
