The Fraser Health Authority is taking a wait and see approach over Metro Vancouver's proposed waste to energy facility.

Chief Medical Health officer Doctor Paul Van Buynder says he needs more information from Metro Vancouver before he determines if the garbage incinerator is a health risk or not.

"They employed a public health physician and an air expert recomended by the health department and they have done a health impact assessment. We are anticipating that we will see the results of that soon and that will enable us to have conversations with them about whether or not this is the way we want to go."

Van Buynder says consultation are also ongoing with metro over a possible site for the garbage incinerator.

The Fraser Valley Regional District is lobbying against the idea, saying it is a risk to air quality in the valley.
