Vancouver is one step closer to neighbourhood block parties.
City councillors have voted in favour of implenting the 16 recommendations from the Mayor's "engaged city task force."
The group has brainstormed ways to improve public consultation, civic engagement, and overall lonliness.
Other ideas include collaborative budgeting, mobile city hall units, and councillor neighbourhood liaisons.
Councillor Andrea Reimer says it's a good use of money, to get more people talking -- not just to the city -- but to eachother.
"With the first person you talk to in your city be your city councillor if you're not already talking to your neighbour or somebody in a social group..."
The cost is expected to be absorbed into the existing budget.
