Vancouver's first neighbourhood block party, as part of the mayor's engaged city task force, could come as early as this fall.
Councillors have voted in favour of carrying out 16 recomendations as part of the task force.
One of which is a neighbourhood party.
Other ideas like open house city hall days, and neighbourhood liasons is to better connect people to their city and each other.
Councillor Andrea Reimer first proposed the motion that got the whole ball rolling.
"The request to council today is to encourage all councillors to also be leaders on this issue."
The final report is due in July, and will be tabled in September.
The cost is expected to be minimal and absorbed into the excisting budget.
Next up on the city council agenda is the idea of adding to existing bike lanes.
Some 20 speakers are lined up to speak to the idea.
