The 34 members of the NDP Caucus took their oaths-of-office at the legislature today.
First up was the leader of the opposition.
"I Adrian Dix do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Magesty Queen Elizabeth II, her heirs and successors according to law so help me God."
Dix acknowledged it is a bittersweet day.
"You know it's obviously disappointing on the one hand but it's great to see just such an outstanding opposition which will serve the people of bc so well, we're already seeing significant differences between what the government campaigned on and some important questions, both symbolic questions and substantive questions."
As for his own leadership, Dix says a meeting of the NDP provincial council on June 22nd should clarify the scope of a review of the party's election loss, and his role in it.
The ceremony comes on the same day Premier Christy Clark called a byelection for July 10th in Westside-Kelowna in an effort to get herself a seat in the legislature, which will likely be called back into session in the next couple of weeks.
