Vancouver's current Police Chief isn't too keen on a proposal made by his predecessor to help crack down on distracted drivers using mobile phones.
In March, Victoria Police Chief Jamie Graham suggested doubling fines to 350-dollars and seizing the phones of repeat offenders for up to five days.
Former Attorney General Shirley Bond wasn't sold on the idea.
Now, Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu says he's fine with existing rules.
"I believe the existing Motor Vehicle Act ticketing that we can do is sufficient."
Chu replaced Graham as Vancouver's Police Chief in 2007.
Graham now heads up a Traffic Safety Committee for the BC Association of Police Chiefs which plans to discuss stronger penalties later this month.
