BC Hydro and the Peace River Regional District have come to terms on so-called "regional legacy" benefits for the proposed Site-C dam.
Once the project is approved and up and running, Hydro would pay the regional district 2.4 million dollars a year for a period of 70 years.
If approved, this eight billion dollar project would flood vast chunks of farmland and some homeowners could be forced off their land.
It still requires a number of permits and full environmental approval.
