Four people were rushed to hospital after a crash in Abbotsford early Sunday morning.

Abbotsford police say they were called out to Vye Road and Sumas Way just after midnight.

Constable Paul Walker says a small car with four people inside was hit by a truck.

"The car was upside down in a water-filled ditch.   Fortunately the water was only able to go half-way through the car.  It took about approximately 15 people to right the vehicle prior to Fire and EHS attending."

Walker says three of the people in the car were driven to a hospital by ambulance, while the other person was airlifted to a Vancouver hospital.

He says the injuries are serious in nature, but not life-threatening.

Walker adds he does not know how many people were inside the truck at the time of the accident.

The Abbotsford police will have the roads closed in the area until late Sunday morning as part of its crime scene investigation.
