People living in the city of Langley will soon find out when they'll get to vote for a mayor to replace outgoing Peter Fassbender.
He has been elected to the BC legislature.
Fassbender says council will be deciding how to go forward with a by-election at a meeting on Monday evening.
It will be his last council meeting as mayor.
"It's going to be difficult. You know, I've dedicated a lot of my life to this community up to now and to the region, and so it's never easy when you go through a transition. But, on the other hand, I'm very excited about my new role."
Fassbender has served as mayor for 10 years.
He says the earliest a by-election could happen is September.
