The Vancouver School Board is expected to approve a recommendation Monday evening that would see the board move forward with implementing a student trustee.
Board Chair, Patti Bacchus, says they will vote on whether to adopt a policy that would guide that implementation.
"The student trustee will not have full voting powers, but will be able to vote and have their vote recorded. It won’t be part of the tally at the end, but what it is, is a really direct link to the schools to have a representative right at the board table."
The move would be a first for BC.
The board is hoping to have a student join them by October.
