The new coach of the Vancouver Canucks has quickly explained how he hopes to get this city it's first Stanley Cup championship.
"I'm going to push the players. That's a big part of coaching and I am going to push them, as individuals and also to create a team concept while we're doing that together."
John Tortorella's first sit-down interview with local media included a promise to try to be less confrontational.
"When you lose your job, you crawl into a hole a little bit and try to learn and I've certainly gone through that process. Have I made mistakes? Absolutely. I make my own bed in this type of situation with the perception of myself and the media. I'm dedicated to make that work and cultivate the relationship with you."
The recently-fired coach of the New York Rangers has a reputation for being tough and testy with reporters.
He's now traded jobs with Vancouver's former coach Alain Vigneault.
