Vancouver cops will be on the high seas this weekend looking for drunken boaters as part of what they call 'Operation Dry Water.'
Constable Brian Montague reminds boaters that operating a boat while under the influence is just as costly as driving drunk.
"The offence is the same. It's impaired operation of a motor vessel. The penalties could be exactly the same as if you were driving a car."
Operation Dry Water is a North-America wide campaign against drunk boating.
Even those who don't steer the ship are at risk -- mothers against drunk driving say 40 percent of boating fatalities are alcohol related.
