The provincial government is putting a positive spin on the $11-million Times of India Film Awards.
The awards that took place in Vancouver in April were supposed to be seen by 400 million people, according to Premier Christy Clark
But initial viewership numbers in India were pegged at just fewer than 30 million, according to TAM Media Research, which is based in that country.
But Jobs and Tourism Minister Shirley Bond says the show will air 11 more times, and that the TOIFA group puts viewership at 32 million for the first airing in India.
She adds another 20 million South Asians outside of India took in the show, along with 8 million people online.
Add that all up and the government says initial viewership is actually 60 million, nearly twice the population of Canada.
