Two men have survived a Grizzly bear attack near Fernie.
The men were hiking on Mount Proctor yesterday morning when the bear charged them, biting the upper arm and chest of one man.
His companion used pepper spray on the animal, but that only angered the bear and it took a run at him.
He managed to pull out his shot gun and fire one round at the bear, but not before it got a few swipes in.
The wounded animal, and its cub, took off into the bush and is now being pursued by conservation officers.
The men made their way down the mountain and are being treated for minor injuries at Elk Valley hospital.
