After a deadly week on the waters, officials are warning British Columbians to keep their wits about them when swimming.
Barbara McLintock with the BC Coroners Service says too many people underestimate how dangerous lakes, rivers, and even swimming pools can be.
"Most deaths, with extra vigilance around water are preventable, but people need to take more care than they think they need to take.”
The warning comes after four drowning deaths in the province in the past five days.
McLintock says all four happened during recreational, and not inherently dangerous, activities.
