BC's Environment Minister is keeping a close eye on the investigation into the Quebec train disaster.
Mary Polak says railway regulation is a federal responsibility but she'll keep tabs on the unfolding investigation to find out what happened.
"It's really important that none of us form conclusions before we have all of the information available."
BC could see an increase in oil shipments by rail.
Polak was asked if pipelines might be safer, but she wasn't biting.
"There is differing opinion on either side much depends on what kind of topography you're dealing with..."
Polak notes a working group on world class land-based oil spill response will submit recommendations by the end of the year.
