The search for a missing Abbotsford man has been expanded to cover land and sea after his vehicle was found near the Fraser River.

41 year old Baljinder Sahota left his home yesterday at noon carrying no belongings, and hasn't been heard from since.

Constable Ian MacDonald with the Abbotsford Police says Sahota's 1994 black, two door Honda Civic was found near the Mission Bridge.

He says the investigation has been expanded due to worries Sahota may have jumped in the river.

"We've got two police agencies, a search and rescue team, and hopefully a lot of citizens that will be assisting now in the search"

Sahota is 5’9” tall and weighs 160 pounds.

He has short black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a white Puma jacket with black track pants and blue runners.

MacDonald says Sahota may have been seen by passers-by in the area of Bridge Street and Harbour Avenue in Mission.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Abbotsford police department at 604-859-5225
