Fans around the world are in shock at the sudden death of actor Cory Monteith.
The actor's body was found in his room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in downtown Vancouver.
Investigators believe he had been dead several hours.
The 31-year old had checked in July 6th and was due to check out Saturday.
According to his fob key and video surveillance, Monteith had people in his room Friday night, but returned early Saturday alone.
Hotel staff went to check on him when he missed his noon check-out time.
He'd recently completed a three-month drug rehab program, but police are not confirming reports his death was drug-related.
Monteith was born in Calgary and raised in Victoria.
Before becoming a household name from his work on tv's Glee, he worked on several locally-shot series including Smallville and Supernatural.
He often returned to Vancouver where he served as grand marshal for the 2011 Grey Cup Parade and he was regularly spotted and Canucks games.
He also signed a petition that helped make the Waldorf Hotel a heritage site.
Tributes have been posted by several celebrities on social media including Taylor Swift and members of the band One Direction.
Vancouver Police say the live-streamed news conference on Saturday night was the VPD's most-watched with more than 16-thousand views online.
