Now that the provincial government has backed down from its long-held policy that homeowners must allow a smart meter to be installed, one Vancouver man is leading the charge to get the old analog meters reinstalled.
Madeson Chase has had the new smart meter for seven months now, but not without a long fight with BC Hydro.
He believes the new meter has affected his family's health and he wants it gone: "difficulty sleeping, difficulty concentrating (and) difficulty thinking."
Chase is asking the energy minister in a letter to re-install an analog meter.
"I do know they are in production, they are still being produced and still used in certain places."
About 60,000 people have held out against the smart meters being installed at their homes.
