BC's top Doc says the drug that played a part in the death of actor Cory Montieth seems to be a recurring drug trend for 20 to 30 year olds.
Doctor Perry Kendall says over the years he has seen heroin come in and go out of fashion.
But he says, in recent years he's seen other drugs increase in popularity, "Generically, I think, across Canada over the last five years we've seen a bit of a move away from heroin or morphine toward the other opioids: prescription opioids like oxycontin, oxycodone."
Kendall says while heroin tends to have a stigma attached to it, it never completely goes away and, in fact, because of the stigma, he says he thinks it has a bit of an allure to the entertainment industry.
