An incident in eastern Quebec has sparked outrage here in Vancouver.
Some local aboriginal people are demanding action after police officers were captured on video beating an Innu man on a reserve on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence.
Steven Kakinoosit says the groups want the officers suspended without pay and charges brought against them, as well as community police forces restored on all reserves in Canada.
"The Quebec Provincial Police must make a public statement of apology not only to Mr. Mestenapeo but to all indigenous people of Canada."
They promise protests across the country if those criteria are not met.
