BC's energy minister says if you move to a house with a smart meter, then you have to use it -- but you can have the meter's radio turned off.
While the government does allow those with analog power meters to keep them until they stop working, Bill Bennett says if you relocate to a house with a smart meter, that's what you will use.
"If somebody was moving into a place that had a smart meter and they didn't have a smart meter where they moved from, they would be able to opt for the radio off option."
Bennett was speaking on The World Today Weekend with Shane Woodford.
