We are finally set to learn what caused a small charter plane to crash land in the middle of a busy Richmond street two years ago, ultimately leaving the two pilots dead.

The Transportation Safety Board plans to hold a news conference next week to release their findings.

On Oct. 27, 2011, a small plane taking nine people on to a business retreat to Kelowna turned back to YVR because of a problem with the engine oil light.

It lost control short of the runway and smashed into the middle of Russ Baker Way.

Drivers pulled over and onlookers rushed out of buildings to save the victims from the fiery wreckage.

All passengers survived, but the two pilots, Luc Fortin and Matt Robic, later died in hospital.

The safety board has already briefed the survivors on its report and will hold its announcement on Wednesday near the site of the crash.
