Days after fresh lawsuits were filed alleging sexual abuse by John Furlong, the former architect of the Vancouver olympics has filed a formal response to the Georgia Straight article that started it all.
Furlong has kept mostly a low-profile since the story by reporter Laura Robinson came out last fall alleging he had physically and verbally abused students while teaching in burns lake in the 1970s.
Furlong denied it in a news conference and launched a lawsuit against Robinson and the newspaper for defamation in November.
They countersued, and now Furlong has formally file a response to the allegations in court.
It re-iterates his claims that Robinson has a "personal vendetta" against him with a "reckless regard for the truth" -- and that he never abused his students.
Earlier this week, two women filed separate lawsuits claiming Furlong sexually molested them when he was their teacher.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
