It hasn't happened yet, but staff at the Insurance Corporation of BC are expecting lots of claims to be filed, thanks to weather-related collisions recorded over the past 48 hours.
ICBC's Adam Grossman says drivers caught off-guard on Tuesday seem better prepared today.
"Yesterday, we saw less snow on the roads than today. I think today's a heavier snowfall, but at the same time, we're seeing a little bit less traffic on the roads today. I think more people felt more prepared, so we're going to expect to see an increase in call volume and claims. How high that will be? We haven't yet determined."
Grossman says winter tires are not mandatory in this province, but drivers face fines if they're not properly equipped travelling some high-risk areas, including the Coquihalla Highway.
