People living in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood have held a rally against the City of Vancouver's plan to redirect traffic down Prior Street if the Dunsmuir and Georgia viaducts are eventually removed.
Under the current plan, a new wider Pacific Boulevard would pick up the slack for the viaducts and then funnel that traffic to Prior Street.
Residents are calling for a 30-kilometre zone, a reduction to two-lane traffic, and a rule forcing trucks to travel down Malkin and Nation streets.
The timing of the rally isn't coincidental.
The demonstrators say they feel like they're being played a fool by the city and the mayor, who they say aren't listening to their concerns.
