The Vancouver Park Board has unanimously approved free golf at three pitch and putt courses during the winter. It's to cut costs; the courses won't be fully staffed between November and March. Commissioner Niki Sharma: "The staff have estimated up to 100-thousand dollars in savings so that's money, taxpayer money, that we always have to be mindful of how we're spending."
Staff say about 200-thousand dollars a year is lost from the courses during the winter.
People will be able to take their own clubs and golf for free at Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth, and Rupert Park.
