The mother of a teenaged girl who took her life after being bullied says she's "encouraged" after a meeting with the NDP health critic.
Carol Todd's met with Mike Farnworth to talk about problems with child and youth mental health care.
Todd says Farnworth has agreed there are things lacking in the system and has promised changes if the NDP is elected.
"If the NDP didn't win the election they would definitely work as the opposition for more child youth mental health care and if they were the new government they said that mental health care and kids would be a focus."
Todd also says there are many children as young as 12 years of age who need mental health care, and the long wait times to see professionals must be addressed.
