The owner of a German shepherd left badly beaten in a Dumpster last July has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty.
Brian Whitlock was charged several months after the two-year-old dog, Captain, was left to die in a Dumpster in Kitsilano.
The Criminal Justice Branch says Whitlock has been released from custody on several conditions.
A sentencing hearing is set for early June in provincial court in Vancouver.
Animal cruelty carries a punishment of up to five years in prison and several thousand dollars in fines.
