A man who murdered his estranged girlfriend in Vancouver, then fled to California is set to find out tomorrow if he'll be allowed to seek parole after serving the minimum time on his life sentence.
Ninderjit Singh spent more than 12 years in hiding before he was caught and brought back to Vancouver.
He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 1999 shooting of 18-year-old Poonam Randhawa.
Prosecutors want the 35-year-old to spend at least 17 years in prison before being allowed to seek any freedom, but he's hoping to apply for parole after only ten years.
When he is ultimately released from custody, Singh will be immediately deported to India.
At the end of his two-day sentence hearing last month, he pleaded for mercy and apologized.
