The leader of the BC Conservatives says the premier is trying to reel in the NDP with a Hail Mary attempt to try for a one-on-one debate with Adrian Dix.
John Cummins says the move itself is ironic as Christy Clark can't seem to be bothered to show up for debates in her own riding.
He says centre-right voters wouldn't have a voice in a debate with Clark and Dix going toe to toe.
"It certainly is a desperate measure by the premier. She would like to be seen as the sole spokesman for the free enterprise vote in British Columbia and that is simply not the case.”
Green Party leader Jane Sterk says voters have more than two choices.
"I think that her motivation is to continue the rhetoric, that it is just a contest between her and Adrian Dix, and I imagine she feels that in a debate, she will be able to perform well enough to persuade voters to back the BC Liberal Party."
She says her party is looking at options in the unlikely event the debate between Clark and Dix goes ahead May 6.
