Despite dozens of speakers showing up at Vancouver City Hall opposing the plan to increase density in the Norquay neighbourhood, it is going ahead.
All but one Vancouver Councilor voted in favour of the plan that encourages row and town houses, allows for cluster or in-fill homes on larger lots and for additional suites to be added on smaller single residence lots. Joseph Jones who lives in the area running along Kingsway between Killarney and Gladstone, has been against the change for years, "Rezoning of Norquay may be the single largest land grab in modern Vancouver history."
But Kern Chui, whose childhood home is in the area, and his parents still live there, says they are in favour of the change because it's good for their investment. And Chui says he thinks a lot of residents feel the same way.
