Potentially toxic fly ash shipped from a Burnaby incinerator to the Cache Creek landfill has still not been dealt with seven months after the fact.
Cache Creek Mayor John Ranta says the Ministry of Environment is still investigating.
Ranta says all parties have also agreed on an indepenedent investigator, "There has been a consultant hired by the name of Bill Hayes who is looking into the whole protocol of treating the fly ash, to stabilize it and make sure it doesn't leach into ground water and the handling of the fly ash between the Burnaby incinerator and a landfill that it is destined for."
Last summer, 18-hundred tonnes of fly ash from a Burnaby incinerator was shipped to Cache Creek, after it failed hazardous material tests.
