The man accused of causing the fatal sinking of the Queen of the North denies he's been lying under oath at his trial in Vancouver.
During cross-examination, prosecutor Mike Huot accused Karl Lilgert of fabricating details to explain why he neglected his duties as the ship's navigational officer.
When Huot suggested he was actually 'distracted by whatever personal business you had with Karen Briker,' Lilgert quietly said, 'I disagree with that.'
Briker is the co-worker who spent several minutes alone with Lilgert on the bridge a few weeks after the lovers ended a longterm affair; and moments before the passenger ferry ran aground.
Two people died that night.
